Interview with Sunny Leone and Daniel Weber.

September 10th, 2012 - Recently, adult performer and Bollywood superstar Sunny Leone and The Disparrows frontman Daniel Weber let Lydia Lee and Dr. Chauntelle crash their studio in Los Angeles - what followed was nothing short of magic!

During the intimate Q&A, Sunny and Daniel discuss their projects and lives split between two continents. The couple has had (and continues to have!) incredible success with their US company, SunLust Pictures. And, with Bollywood's Jism 2 (2012) in theatres and more movies on the way, Sunny and Daniel are currently straddling the fence between two distinct types of stardom in two very distinct cultures.

Sunny Leone speaks about Jism 2, the presence of erotic scenes in Indian movies, and why she couldn't have imagined success as a Bollywood actress only a few years ago. She also talks about her upcoming horror movie Ragini MMS 2, learning to dance, and being overwhelmed by India's acceptance.

Daniel Weber speaks about The Disparrows as a collaborative effort amongst all its band members, where he draws his inspiration, working on the second album, and hopefully getting to play in India.

They both talk about the importance of music in Indian films, the cultural inclination to choose entertainment over basic necessities, global-level media disconnects, Indian activists' hopes for Sunny as a politicized symbol, and how India is the only place in the world that could have accepted an pornographic actress from the US without judgment.

Don't miss Jism 2, in select theatres right now (get showtimes for Artesia, CA here); and The Disparrows music video for "Sweet Surrender" is a must-see!! (video below)

Interview with Free Speech Coalition's Diane Duke and Joanne Cachapero.

September 6th, 2012 - The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) is the trade association for the adult entertainment industry. Lydia Lee and Dr. Chauntelle Anne Tibbals visit FSC headquarters for some in-depth discussion with Executive Director Diane Duke and Communication/Membership Director Joanne Cachapero.

Beginning with a thorough explanation of the organization's objectives, Diane details the Adult Production Health and Safety Services (APHSS.org) program at length. She speaks about the adult industry's recent syphilis moratorium, as well as subsequent and ongoing research, consultation, and outreach. Also discussed are FSC's relationship with Manwin, confusion surrounding the Mr. Marcus "press conference," Measure B and the upcoming November election/condom mandate, and the LA County Department of Health Services.

Joanne and Diane both speak about the adult industry as a whole, focusing on the idea of industry unity. The conversation explores issues that emerge when the adult community's rebel spirit meets the need for compromise and collective, industry-driven consensus.

From the outrageous to the obvious, this interview is a thorough and lively discussion. (and it covers far more than can be noted in just a few paragraphs)

And FYI: FSC's condom campaign starts today, so stay informed and show your support! Share your thoughts, bring constructive feedback, and consider offering a donation of your time or money.

Stay updated at these FSC and APHSS sites - www.FreeSpeechCoalition.com, FSCBlogger.wordpress.com, and APHSS.org

Interview with Steven St. Croix.

September 3th, 2012 - In a candid, thought-provoking, and occasionally funny (hilarious) interview, twenty-year adult industry legend Steven St. Croix speaks with Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee about a great many things.

Steven discusses the industry he entered in 1992 vs. the industry he works in today, including the development of what he sees as a lack of camaraderie amongst performers and within the business overall. He also comments on the current syphilis situation and the dissension he sees developing between different industry factions. Further, he offers some very thoughtful insights regarding mandatory condom use in porn:

I'm against the government telling the public what they should do with their bodies. In the same way that I think a woman has the freedom to choose whether to have a child or to have an abortion, I think this is also within that same realm. ... I don't believe that the government - that is on record for trying to close down the adult industry for years - is now going to dictate to that same industry "condom use for all performers."

He speaks at length about "the best role of his career," New Sensations' Torn. He discusses his inspiration for the character, bonding with Torn's writer/director Jacky St. James, and her co-director Eddie Powell's attention to story composition.

Finally, in a very moving segment, Steven reflects on his inclination towards performance and comedy as a child - he just wanted to be liked and get along in school. He shares inspiration for his blog and describes his three-year sabbatical in France (painting, film, and a gallery of his own!). He speaks briefly about his love of French culture and the European approach to social media.

It's an amazing interview with one of the adult industry's true greats - not to be missed!

Interview with Jerrod Olsen.

August 31st, 2012 - In a slightly less formal and somewhat more technical interview, Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee talk to in-house Penthouse employee, Jerrod Olsen, about working behind the scenes.

Jerrod speaks about writing the descriptions for sex scenes on Penthouse websites and being responsible for subscribers' accessibility to content. He compares the differences between working for a small company vs. working for a large corporation, as well as some issues related to online piracy and tube sites.

Also discussed are the nuances of interacting with coworkers in an adult production workplace and how general office rules often apply more stringently in these spaces (vs. non-adult companies). Technology and the amount of work involved in creativity and human interaction is pondered, with emphases on music remixing and the glory of Mae West!

Also, Jerrod's tribute to the Gabriel & Dresden remix of Gustavo Santaolalla's Oscar-winning theme to Brokeback Mountain, "The Wings" (with some audio clips thrown in for dramatic effect!) below...

Interview with Tanya Tate.

August 23rd, 2012 - Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee interview Tanya Tate about differing attitudes towards sexuality and porn in England, Ireland, and the United States; directing for Penthouse; the syphilis moratorium; condoms; her super powers (which are many!); judging a sexy zombie contest; and her Fleshlight.

Tanya also talks about being asked to speak at the University College Dublin's (UCD) Literary and Historical Society's debate on adult entertainment and sex... and then being canceled after university authorities stepped in! Fortunately for students interested in asking the famous adult star questions, Tanya will respond through her YouTube Channel on the day of the debate. From Star Factory PR:

Students wishing to ask Tanya any questions and keep the debate about the adult industry alive may email Tanya directly at Tanya@TanyaTate.com. Label the subject of the email "UCD Question." Answers will be posted to Tanya's YouTube Channel: www.YouTube.com/TanyaTateTube

August 20th, 2012 - In what becomes a very passionate conversation about the syphilis situation currently impacting the adult industry, Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee begin this podcast talking about Dr. Chauntelle's recent trip to Denver for the annual SSSP conference; the article The Intimacy Prism by Christine Milrod and Ronald Weitzer, which discusses evolving intimate relationships within the context of sex worker/client relationships, and notions of love, masculinities, and sexually assertive women (be they sex workers or not); and the problems that emerge from conflating (linguistically and otherwise) illegal, graphic depictions of minor-aged child sexual abuse with legal, consensual adult content/pornography.

Finally, Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee wrap up by talking about what appears to be  series of combined efforts between entities inside and outside the adult industry to circumvent a centralized testing system. Accordingly, this has allowed for a repeat of the 1998 situation wherein a performer was able to work with a manipulated STI test and knowingly infect a number of other performers, this time with syphilis.

Interview with Jacky St. James.

August 13th, 2012 - Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee interview award-winning screenwriter Jacky St. James. Jacky explains how she came to work in the adult industry, her future writing/directing endeavors, and the many hats she wears at New Sensations.

Also discussed are the ways in which Jacky overcame mainstream-situated concerns regarding working in the adult industry; New Sensations' already much lauded film, Torn, and its upcoming (September 3, 2012) release; and their "Couples" line as gateway porn. (gateway porn?!)

It's a lighthearted yet extremely introspective and insightful conversation - a must listen!!

July 31th, 2012 - In this episode, Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee talk about Nadya "Octomom" Suleman at length. The discussion centers around Suleman's self-pleasure video, Home Alone; mischaracterizations of Suleman and Home Alone in the media; and tensions around Suleman's identity as a sex worker - given her recent forays into adult production and performance and subsequent dance and signing appearances, is she?

Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia also touch on free speech a la Chick-fil-A - should free speech also include unpopular and/or problematic speech? (yes) Further, is there only one "right way" to protest hateful, discriminatory actions? (no!) The ladies get a little silly discussing Willam Belli's hillarious Wilson Phillips parody "Chow Down (at Chick-fil-A)" and Dr. Chauntelle's trip to the Focus on the Family campus in Colorado.

And in case you haven't seen it yet, enjoy!
